Sometimes in life

Posted by Unknown at 19:28 0 comments
Sometimes in life, you should leave a poem unwritten. Do not take a photograph, no; and leave the written post card in your text book rather than drop it - lovingly, laughingly, and with a sad smile - in a red post box somewhere in London. Leave the dance undone, and leave the teabags in the jar. Because all this gets trodden upon, forgotten, left over, not missed, not loved, and not remembered time and time again like you would, like you do. And it is nobody's fault, you see. Well, it almost is not. Life hits you, and makes you fly, and when it makes you fly, it makes you forget. Forget, you do; forgotten, you have. And I am wondering what to do about the pages of poetry that echo of desperate aches in the pit of my stomach, of sleepless nights and dazed mornings, of promises made, broken and kept, of stories that were written, unwritten and rewritten, and of red chiffon and blue silk.

Relaxation Drinks

Posted by Unknown at 18:53 0 comments

So you know energy drinks, Red bull, Monster, so on and so forth. Well the new and up in coming thing is now relaxation drinks. Suppose to relieve stress and help you sleep better, sounds like marijuana in a bottle. Sounds good to me! Plus you can mix it with alcohol and that's all that really matters. Check out Koma Unwind and support, I want to get it to Canada so I can try this stuff out. It also helps that J.Lo was drinking it in her new music video, and I wouldn't mind being as cool as she is.

You must be joking...

Seriously? C'mon Miley, this is just too much. She looks like a drowned rat, who just so happens to be a bum on the side of the street, who collects cans for money. She also sort of looks like a boy (Maybe she is a boy.) I hate this look, its probably the worst hair cut I've ever seen. Sorry Miley, the only girl who can pull this look off is Rhianna. It probably doesn't help that I really hate this chick, the only reason shes famous is because of her dad. She can't sing nor can she act. Just bad news all around. She is whats wrong with Hollywood and the music industry, no talent and obviously no sense of style. Next thing we know she will be shaving her head bald and getting engaged to some hobo from Texas. Next stop: REHAB!! Good luck to you sweetheart,

STOLE!

You Were My Friend.

Posted by Unknown at 12:18 0 comments

Once a friend, our talks knew no end,
Now even a forward, I hesitate to send.

You preach to me, who gives you the right?
We spoke after months, and all you do is fight!

Your harsh words, they cut at me. I am but myself, how I've always been.
I don't know why you can't see ..

You asked me, I opened up to you,
I told what was happening, real, true.
But you went and judged me for that?
Judged me for being upset?
It's not like I was sulking over some candy that I didn't get.

You didn't have to see yet another grandparent wither away right in front of you,
If you saw and did all that I did,
You too, would try and cover it with a lid.

Telling people you know what they're going through,
Telling them what to do instead, is easy too!
All I needed was you to listen to me, to comfort me.
All I needed was for you to be a good friend, to just BE THERE for me.
Sigh.

You were my friend .. Or were you ever?

XoXo,
Abbie.

Hello! Today was so windy and rainy the only thing to do was shop. (Like I need an excuse anyway!) So I just thought I'd show you some things I picked up..

The Body Shop had a half price sale on today so I picked up these beauties for £2 each..

The first item I bought was the Cucumber Freshening Water. I've been looking for a new facial toner for a while so I'm hoping that this one will be natural and kind to my skin, I'll keep you posted! Secondly I picked up the Raspberry Ripple Bath & Shower Gel, purely for the scent! I can't wait to use it, it smells so good!

I also picked this up in TK Maxx..
It's called Ultimate Look eyes by e.l.f and it contains 3 eyeshadow pots, 2 applicators, their lengthening & defining mascara in black brown, an eyeshadow brush, false lashes and glue, a brightening eye liner in
brown and a eyeshadow brush. It also gives instructions on the back of the box on how to create the ultimate look, which I shall be trying out. While I was shopping I saw another version with grey and black eye shadows, but I thought this one was perfect because it's the colours I normally wear. All this for £5.99! I was a very happy girly!

What did you get this weekend?

Thanks for reading!

The Top 10 beautiful Celebrities....

Posted by Unknown at 18:45 0 comments

Everyone always has their own opinions of who they think are the most beautiful celebrities. But what is beauty to you? To me it is someone who is beautiful both inside and out as well as remaining modest but confident. Many celeb's are beautiful but struggle to stay grounded after receiving compliments, which is understandable. There is a difference between confidence and cockiness, and many manage to stay grounded, for instance Jennifer Aniston, Kate Middleton, Kate Beckinsale, Cameron Diaz & Natalie Portman..

To me Beauty is in ones heart, that truly does reflect through to the outfit. Make up can only enhance natural beauty. If you are covered in beautiful make up but have an ugly personality and yo are miserable & negative, then that is not beautiful. For instance Mariah Carey, Megan Fox, Jennifer Lopez & Cher Lloyd. All are stunningly beautiful women but their attitudes and how they treat people let's them down sadly. I hear men say all the time i wonder why they keep ending up single, the amount of times i have heard this about Halle Berry in unreal.

Via

For me i chose the 10 celebrities who are naturally beautiful on the outside but kind hearted & giving people on the inside. Confident in who they are inside and out which radiates beauty...
So Here is my list of celebrities who "I" think are beautiful, in no particular order...

1.) Cassie

2.) Rita Ora

3.) Beyonce

4.) Amerie

5.) Jordin Sparks

6.) Caterine Zeta Jones

7.) Jessica Alba

8.) Scarlett Johansson

9.) Kristin Davis

10.) Eva Mendes

Who are your top beautiful celebrities? and why?

Which are the best shampoos for dry hair??

Posted by Unknown at 18:43 0 comments

So which ones are best?

Ok so i have tried quite a lot of different shampoos over the past year trying to find one that suits my hair type nourishing it without drying it out as its naturally frizzy. After being use toLoreal Elvive Smooth Intense for years i decided to try some new ones and give them a go. I saw adverts on tv and in magazines that promised to help dry/damaged hair. With mine being not quite Afro (hair stylists call it European hair) as its a mix of my fathers African American curls, native Indian and my moms naturally thick hair, it was eminent my hair was doomed to be thick, dry and frizzy from the get go. My hair needs natural oils, but not quite as much as real tight Afro curls, as i end up with a lot of greasy build up. I have always struggled to find hair products that help my hair without leaving it feeling heavy. For me the shampoo i love to use is one that doesn't add lots of build up, or dry it out leaving it feeling like straw. So here is the other shampoo's i have given a try this year:

Herbal Essences Seductively Straight
Herbal Essences Ignite my Colour
TRESemme Split Remedy
Loreal Elvive Nutrigloss Shine Shampoo
VO5 Give me Moisture
VO5 Gloss Me Smoothly
Selsun Blue Anti dandruff (not pictured)

Reviews

~(Not pictured) I use Selsun Blue maybe twice a month to help remove build up, its brilliant at doing so but drys my hair out, hence why its not used much. Its medicated so if you have bad dandruff its perfect.

~Herbal Essences Seductively Straight didn't do much for my hair at all :-( hence the full bottle still. It left my hair more static and frizzy.

~Herbal Essences Ignite my colour, did help my hair after dying it red but dried it out a lot. It ended up being very dry and frizzy that i had to use a lot of serum to rescue it. However this shampoo is wonderful on my children's curly hair, it really ignites the blond and makes it shine.

~TRESemme Split Remedy shampoo, i found this didn't help my hair type :-( I'm gutted as its one of my favourite brands and had high hopes, sadly it dried my hair out too much, their originals shampoo's are better. However i feel this shampoo is better on more thinner, hair i believe mine is just to dry and brittle for it to work.

~I found the Loreal Elvive Nutrigloss Shine Shampoo nice, it smelt lovely and left my hair feeling softer and clean.

~VO5 Give me Moisture i was swayed towards this a few weeks back thanks to Shirley ofMeek~n~Mild, first try i found it amazing, so the hype definitely lived up. It left my hair feeling clean and softer than usual.

~VO5 Gloss Me Smoothly is actually better than the give me moisture. My hair feels a lot sleeker, smoother and thinner. So not sure its ideal for people who want volume, but for someone with thick, frizzy hard to tame hair i would recommend. I also recommend the conditioners they are fantastic. My hair was a lot less frizzy so i used less styling product and hair spray. I truly never thought i would find a product to help with the frizz and i hope this perfect match lasts. Not to forget it smells amazing!!!

So its pretty obvious who won my number 1 vote for European/Afro mixed hair is VO5 for the Shampoo.

What do you use that works for your hair?

Have you tried any of these and how do you find them on your hair type?

Baking Brownies

Posted by Unknown at 18:03 0 comments

Brownies are like a secret cure for PMT (sorry fellas).
Sometimes we need a hug, sometimes we need brownies. Most times, we need both.
Last night, I decided these brownie cookies were very necessary.
I had already come to terms with the fact that I was going to eat them straight out of the oven. Don’t judge.

Ingredients (Makes around 10 or 11 large brownie cookies)
8 ounces of dark chocolate
1 packet (around 125g) of white chocolate
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 cup of flour
Pinch of salt
1 tsp of baking powder
1 tsp of vanilla essence
1 cup sugar
3 eggs

Method
Preheat your oven to around 180 degrees, grease and line a large baking tray.

In a large pan bring about 2 inches of water to the boil.

Smash up all the dark chocolate, it’s easiest if you leave it in the packet and just give it a good old bash against your kitchen worktop.

Put all the chocolate pieces in a small saucepan and lower into the boiling water. The smaller the pieces are, the quicker they will melt.

Stir the chocolate until it starts to melt, then add the butter. Stir until it has all melted and then set aside to cool.

Next, sieve the flour into a large bowl. Wisk in the salt and Baking powder.

Return to your chocolate mixture; add the sugar, vanilla essence and the eggs, one by one.
Stir thoroughly until combined.

Add the chocolate mixture to the flour mixture and stir until all the flour has been combined.

Smash up the white chocolate into chunks and fold in the chocolate pieces into the mixture.

Bake for 11 minutes if you want them slightly undercooked and sloppy, or 16 Minutes if you’re not a fan of the sloppy-ness.

Enjoy with a large glass of full-fat milk, yum!

Got That Summertime Sadness...

Posted by Unknown at 17:53 0 comments

Typical, unpredictable British weather has withheld a summer from us this year. Newcastle has seen a few hot days (followed by the unbearable, sleepless, humid nights), but then it absolutely p*sses down. It hasn't really inspired me to listen to the latest “summer tunes”.

What I’ve been listening to this week:

  • Simply Amazing – Trey Songz, the most summery tune of the bunch, just a beautiful song.
  • Imagine – John Lennon, yes I was obsessed with the Olympics and I thought this was the one of the best songs of the Closing Ceremony.
  • Bloc Party released a new song recently, it made me remember all the old one I used to love. Flux, Banquet & Sunday  <3
  • Hand’s on the Bible – Local H, watched Big Nothing became addicted to this song.
  • Flagpole Sitta - originally sang by Harvey Danger, covered by Lit & Blink182. It’s the theme tune for Peep Show.

What's The Run Dude, Where Do You Wake Up...

Posted by Unknown at 17:49 0 comments

I used to be able to sleep for England, there could be the biggest thunderstorm outside my window, there could be kids outside playing, the neighbour’s baby crying, my dog going mad at the poor leaflet boy and I would be dead to the world!

Something changed a little while ago. I have always been a worrier (runs in the family), I’m a diet coke addict, which became my saviour from the ball-busting hours I used to work at my last job. I hate being in the pitch dark and silence deafens me. Considering all these factors it’s no surprise that I am up until the wee hours of the morning and the slightest noise wakes me up.

I downloaded two apps on my iPhone, I was a little sceptical that they wouldn't do anything for me, but hey I'm willing to give anything a go.

1. “Sleep Soundly” – you only get one free session that you can replay over and over again. It’s basically a woman speaking in a low, soft voice, talking to you about your breathing, getting comfy and trying to relax you for approximately 35 minutes. I find I can listen to women but listening to a man try to do this freaks me out.
2. “Sleepmaker” This is actually my favourite, now don’t judge. I played this for my friend and she couldn’t stop laughing. It’s basically different rain sounds, for example, “Medium rain onto a car roof” or “Gentle overspill out of guttering”. Sounds weird, but don’t knock it until you try it. Something it doesn’t work and just makes me want to wee!

I’m not really into taking pills to fix things, but I have tried Kalms Sleep, it was many years ago now and hated them. You have to take 4 pills, that’s right 4! I was up late revising for a test at the time, having drank a couple of tins of Coke (terrible idea in hindsight), then couldn’t sleep and didn’t want to feel crappy for the test, so I popped the pills. My arms started tingling, I was sweating a little bit, all in all a horrible experience, never will I do that again.

Lastly, it does nothing for aiding my sleep deprivation, but it is very yummy. I reach for a good old glass of milk & honey.

Oh It's What You Do To Me...

Diet Coke can make you put on more weight than its counterpart. WHAT THE F?

I was watching Secret Eaters at ridiculous o’clock in the morning when I heard Anna Richardson say this. I couldn’t help but lol at the idea. A 500ml bottle of Diet Coke that you would buy to go with you lunch contains a measly 2 calories and 0 sugar, in comparison to the full fat Coca Cola, containing 210 calories and 53g of sugar!

The theory behind this is when you drink Diet Coke your body begins to crave the sugar that the drink is missing and tells your brain to find it somewhere else, in foods such as crisps, chocolate etc.

I completely disagree with this!
I used to skip out on breakfast and wouldn’t be eating dinner until half 8 at night. I lost count how many times my belly decided to start a conversation of its own in the middle of class and I'd find myself nodding off from exhaustion! Anyway that’s what got me addicted to my saviour Coca Cola, I used to drink by the tonne, which did nothing for my waistline and I started putting on weight like a b*tch, sad times L . I there forced myself to drink it’s one calorie sister, Diet Coke which took some getting used to, but low and behold the weight came back off.

Nutritional info was found here.
